Abstract

Organizational culture is an important factor influencing the quality of nursing services, nurses’ job satisfaction, and the effectiveness of teamwork in hospitals. A strong organizational culture can create a supportive work environment that contributes to improving the quality of healthcare services. This study aimed to describe the organizational culture among nurses in the inpatient wards of Baiturrahim Hospital, Jambi City. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method with a cross-sectional design conducted in May 2026. The study population consisted of all 43 nurses working in the inpatient wards of Baiturrahim Hospital, Jambi City. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data were collected using the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) based on the Competing Values Framework (CVF), which measures four types of organizational culture: Clan Culture, Adhocracy Culture, Market Culture, and Hierarchy Culture. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis with frequency and percentage distributions. The results showed that the dominant organizational culture in the current condition was Clan Culture (51.2%), followed by Hierarchy Culture (32.6%), Adhocracy Culture (9.3%), and Market Culture (7.0%). In the expected condition, most respondents preferred Clan Culture (69.8%), followed by Adhocracy Culture (16.3%), Hierarchy Culture (11.6%), and Market Culture (2.3%). It was concluded that Clan Culture dominated both the current and expected organizational culture among nurses. Hospitals are advised to strengthen communication, teamwork, and nurse participation in decision-making to support improvements in the quality of nursing services.
